October Athene Osborne Thousands of hunters will make their annual trek to the hills this weekend as Utahs annual deer hunt opens at daybreak Saturday morning, Oct. 21. The hunting season is so popular in the state that some of the smaller cities close up shop for Saturday. In a number of cities, including those in Sanpete School District, schools will let out Monday, Oct. 23, to allow the weekend hunters to get home and prepare for Tuesday morning school. Each year some of the deer hunters in the field get into trouble because they violate one of the few basic regulations governing tills hunting season; so if you are going out in pursuit of the buckskin, please note these basic laws for this upcoming deer hunt. One deer of either sex may be taken on the regular license except on three areas which A 3t.Q, are buck only units. Dixie-Terr- y Ox Valley, Oak City, and Tintic are buck only units this year. There is a general eleven day season except on Beaver-Mineralpart of Dixie, and Vernon. Every person while h unting shall wear conspicuous red or yellow headgear and shirt jacket or sweater. No one may hunt deer unless they are 16 years of age or older. In addition, juveniles 16 through 20 must be properly qualified to purchase a hunting license by passing one of the required gun safety courses.
