One of the most outstanding water polo players in America will be playing for the Utes. Mike Garibaldi, who was one of the outstanding swimmers in the Western Athletic Conference last year, will spark the Utah game. During the summer Garibaldi led the Foothill, Calif., Athletic Club to the National AAU water polo championship and scored the winning goal. Following the championships Garibaldi and his team toured Europe representing water polo in the United Staates. Some of the BYU team members will be Californians Pete Balboa Feiberabend, Island; Reinhard Funck, San Jose; Mike Forrest, Tustin; and Gordon Johnson, Modesto. BYU is coached by Skip Brooks who is also the frosh swimming coach. Water polo is very similar to ice hockey in game procedure. A water polo team consists of one goalie and six field players. The water polo ball is similar to a volleyball and in order to score the ball must touch the opposinig teams net inside the frame of the goal. Water polo is considered to be on e of the most five contact rugged sports. Meets scheduled for this fall include BYU at Utah Swim School on Oct. 27 at 4 p.m. and on Nov. 12 at 9:30 a.m. prior to the BYU-Uta- h football game at Salt Lake City. The final scrimmage will be at BYU Nov 18 at 3 p.m. Must there always eral deficits? asks a sional apostle of thrift. not. However, it is one fine old traditions. Denver Sporting Goods, $30.68. Pliny the Younger all up. We earnestly solicit the cooperation of the young people of Sanpete Valley, and ask them to NOT get in the turkey flocks at night It is entirely possible that a grower might sustain a loss of many thousand dollars if a flock of turkeys which was nearly ready for processing were stampeded and bruised up. We suggest, of anyone needs a turkey for a cook-othey should go to the Processing Plant where they can get one that is properly processed and cleaned and is much more suitable for eating. The cost of the loss of one or two turkeys is small compared with the actual losses in economic value which usually accompany molesting the flocks at night. M.ny flocks are stampeded ,and in some instances, dozens or hundreds of turkeys have been known to have piled up and smothered. As a case in point, a dog was found in one flock in Moroni last week during the early morning hours. In this particular case over 150 turkeys were killed andor smothered. Most of the turkeys were smothered and it is estimated that there will be considerable loss in down grade when the turkeys are processed. When the turkeys are molested at night, they tend to spook. They fly into feeders, trees, rocks, or any other solid object which might be in their way. The result of this collision is that the bird, if not killed will sustain a bruise which will turn green and require a down a loss of grade to grade C 4 cents per pound. Another hazard of molesting turkeys at night is that when turkeys are so molested and stampeded, it upsets their feeding program and their metabolism to the point where diseases are much more easily picked Coyde Downard Hiland Dairy, $44.80; in the Mt. Pleas- ant Pyramid October During the past several years that about the time of the year when school starts, there has been an increase in the incidence of molestation of turkey flocks. It would appear that during the fall and early winter period some of the young people who are attending high school and college have a desire to have a "chickaree. They probably dont understand some of the dangers and problems involved, and, therefore, go into the turkey flocks at night to get a turkey for a dinner.
