L. Travers, she seemed to gain additional destined fame through some form of the entertainment medium. Disney first became aware of the delightful Mary Poppins about fifteen years ago, when one of his daughters introduced him to the magical nursemaid. Her enthusiasm for the books prompted his reading them and he, too, saw their potential as material for a motion picture. Making her motion picture debut in the title role is lovely and talented Julie Andrews. For the multl-facte- d role of Bert, a young man of many vocations and devoted friend of Mary Poppins, Disney signed the brilliant young Dick Van Dyke. For the role of Mr. Banks, whose f u household plays second fiddle to his most serious banking career, Disney British corned 1 a n, imported David Tomlinson, and Glynis Johns will be seen as Winifred Banks, the pixilated wife and mother whose suffragette activities leave little time for her home and children. Ed Wynn, at 77, still enjoying one of the busiest careers in Hollywood, will be seen as Uncle Albert. Others in the cast include Hermione Baddeley, Karen Mathew Garber, Elsa Arthur Treacher, Lanchester, Reginald Owen, Rita Shaw and many others. actor-comedi- Ralph Green, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Christensen and Mr. and ON A Dearborn KINGSLEY SERIES COUNTERFLOW WALL FURNACE H k at the Kinema.
