In the meantime Beaver Fire Department EMTs (Emergency Medical Technicians) had arrived on the scene and along with Deputy Cox then tried to reach the victims, the EMTs donning air packs. Deputy Cox inhaled enough of the gas, how- - ever, that he fainted after climbing back out of the pit. The EMTs hrought the four men to the surface and tried to resuscitate them, with Deputy Cox performing CPR (cardiopulmon.irv resuscitation) on Sheriff Nelson. One of the EMTs also had to be resuscitated and is now in good condition. Both the Roberts men and Sheriff Nelson were dead af the scene. Blackburn was flown to the University of Utah Medical Center and later transfeired to I I)' Hospital where he remained m inn, al condition at press time. According to the Sheriffs Department, Delta City Police Officer Robert Dekker, the arresting officer, was assaulted by Mudgett at the time of the arrest. Mudgett was then transported to Fillmore by Deputy Chuck Stewart and Officer Dekker. The suspect again assaulted Dekker at the Sheriff's office as he was being booked into the Counts Jail. After careful consideration of the financial condition of Millard County, and a detailed review of revenues from sources other than taxes, the Commissioners of Millard County have decided that a mill increase for the county will not be necessary. The same levy as last year, 10 mills will be levied on the 1980 taxes.
