Show SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES Following are excerpts from the minutes of the Board of Education Meeting held February 14, 1979 at the District Office, Delta, Utah. Meeting convened at 9:00a.m. Members in attend ance: Bertis Frampton, President; Robert L. Harris, Leoyd Lovell, member; Jack M. Nelson, member; David L. Christensen, Member; Kenneth M. Tophan, Superintendent; and Robert L. Steele, Clerk. Minutes of the Board Meeting held January 10, 1979 were approved by a motion from Member seconded Harris, by Member Christensen and carried unanimously by the Members of the Board. ' Payment of bills from check 9246 to 9488 inclusive, along with financial report for General Accounts, were approved by a motion from Memseber Christensen, conded by Member Lovell and carried unanimously by the Members of the Board. Communications: 1. Discussion was held concerning some medical problems with some stut; dents. 2. Discission was held concerning some discipline problems occurring while traveling on school buses. Bids for the sale of typewriters and sundry equipment were reviewed Member at this time. Christensen made a motion to sell the items for the highest bid, seconded by Member Harris and the voting was as follows: Christensen Member Aye Member Harris Aye Member Lovell Aye Member Nelson Aye Mr. Joe Rickards, State Board of Education, was present to meet with the Board of Education to review with the Board of Education the needs of a Board Advisory Committee and their functions. A . two day workshop will be held at the Holiday Inn in Provo, Utah on February 28, and March 1 to review this matter further i concerning public involvement. Discussion was held concerning the preschool budget for the school year 1979-8and the amount of $21,000.00 grant to help operate the program with no charge to the District. Member Harris made a motion to approve the preschool program for the school year 1979-80- , seconded by Member Lovell and carried unanimously by the Members of the Board. Discussion was held concerning a Board Member to serve on the planning committee with the Millard County Organization of Local Governments. Member Christensen made a motion to appoint Member Nelson to serve on this committee, seconded by Member Harris and carried unanimously by the Members of the Board. Top-haSuperintendent reviewed with the Board of Education the Intermountain Power Project Study for items to be studied and considered as the student population grows. .A request was presented to the Board of Education for Jane Beckwith and Ruth Hansen to attend a three day library conference on April 9, 10, and 11, 1979. Member Harris made a motion to approve only one person to attend the above conference, seconded by Member Lovell and carried unanimously by thb Members of the Board. Seth Jackson, Dennis Frank Baker, Moody, Allen Riding, and Lee Roper, Members of the Delta Volunteer Fire Department, were present to meet with the Board of Education to review fire safety items to be improved. Member Lovell made a motion to install a new fire alarm system at the Delta Elementary seconded School, by Member Nelson, and carried unanimously by the Members of the Board. Tony Fuller was present to attend the Board meeting.
