The lawns are covered with falling leaves, due to the early frost, but the chrysanthemums make us forget the ugliness How much more attractive our dinner table Kxiks centered w ith a bowl of colorful chrvsanthemums. Certainly each family should have a small bed of these cheerful flowers. which continue to bloom, sometimes until Thanks-gi- v ing Bv picking the buds and putting them in water in a cool, dark place, we have had an arrangement on our table for Christmas. We should all join a garden club, smee we learn so much about plants and their uses in our lives. Our lives are becoming so complicated that we need to work with plants in order to find a sure method of relaxation. We just cant work in a garden without feeling close to our maker. We plant these tinv little seeds and marvel at what delicious foods and exotic blooms develop from our efforts We witness almost unbelievable miracles happen each time we work in our garF dens Garden Clubs offer information which we never get in schools and are constantly adding more departments to make life more enjoyable. In the over thirty years in which I have belonged to the National Council of State Garden Clubs, many new courses haye been added to the agenda yyhich haye helped to improve our way of life, making everyday living much more enjoyable. Members of garden clubs are offered special courses in Mower Show schools. Landscape Design schools, conservation and Preservation schools, which are taught bv experts in each subject. Our creator gave us muscles to use and the only way to stay healthy is to stay active. One of the very best exercises we can take is working out in the fresh air doing real gardening, growing our own vegetables and fruit, and making our homes more beautiful because we have belonged to a garden club and learned just how to garden and landscape our yards in order that each member of the family has a part m making a w holesome community Communities which have junior and high school garden clubs seldom are bothered with vandalism as those who plant trees, shrubs, and flowers appreciate how much work is involved m planting and caring for these plants, and they have no desire to destroy such Catherine Wilson Compositor - Lithographer to Visit easv-to-gro- $ Editor - f i" $ & Dutson - Publisher Jane Wilson B Susan FILLMORE $ Progress Printing Company By I.c I It His spilth W.IS 0 ansi. ih d and appealed in its i nun Is hi si v i ral finish in spa pc is I hit ii g the ti stiv al the I In nu Milk i amaniti m iHc d a in ration (n prt and w in i n N.iy aio Man kt I lo (.hit i u Alai garc th and Pi nu i I h ni ik ol 1 y I h tl i .i i k spec lal By nu tat ion liom the quee n. l u tioiipi pi lot nu d (yy o days lati t lor the royal t. indy at Mursehshoi g Ihc it Pal. k i stimuli t resident t I he troupe also per i i , lor med at lie main out dool stage .it tin lamous oh (i.udt ns m ( open hugi n, as yy ell as I nolo Iai ks in oilier Ibinish I y illlts Ihc largest Inc and c the witnessing I Ge m tulion amanili show was al the outdoor tow n square III down IC 111 low n Sim kholm.
