Meeting convened at 2 p.m. Members in attendance: Jack M. Nelson, President: Bents Frampton. Duane Galli. Member. David L. Christensen, Member: Robert L. Harris. Member: Kenneth M. Tophant, Superintendent; Robert L. Steele, Gcrk. Minutes of the Board of Education Meeting held July 18, 1978 and July 27. 19S were approved by a motion from Member Frampton seconded by Member Harris and carried unanimously by the Members of the Board. Payment of bills from cheek 8017 to 8110 inclusive, along with repons for the general accounts, were approved bv a motion from Christensen. seconded by Member Galli and carried unanimously by the Members of the Board Communications A review was made at this time conccrtutg teacher assignments 2. Discussion was held concerning the lunch program and employee assignments 3. Discussion was held concerning the date of the next School Boaid Meeting. It was decided to hold the next Board Meeting on September 6, 19'8 at 9 a nt. m the District Office, Delta, Utah. Opening School Institute will be held at the I illmore Llementarv School on August 23. 1978 at 9 a m. Member Christensen will give the welcome address. New personnel will be presented in the next Board Meeting for approval by the Board of Education. Discussion was held concerning the building program and the contract woik that was awarded to M A. M Construction Co. in the previous Board a Meeting. Member Frampton made as coni the rad motion to approve submitted and authorize the Board President to sign the contract, seconded bv Member Galli and carried unanimously bv the Members of the Board. Student fees were reviewed at this time for the following items: Student Studentbody Activity Fees grade S14.00; all activities) (including Returnable Fees, S6.00; Shop, Optional; Towel. Optional; Yearbook, OptionStudentbody al Students grade all activities), Activity Fees (includes $12. 00. Returnable Fees, $4.00. Shop, Yearbook Optional; Towel. Optional. 1 10-1- 7-- Optional. Member Christensen made a motion to approve the student fees as seconded by Member presented, Harris and carried unanimously by the Members of the Board. Discussion was held concerning the professional staff time schedule. Member Galli made a motion to adopt the policy as presented, seconded by Member Frampton and carried unanimously by the Members of the Board. Mr. Galli made a motion to approve Mr. Fowles to submit an application to the State Board of Education to develop an area vocational center, seconded by Member Flams and earned unanimously by the Members of the Board. A letter was presented to the Board of Education from Colette Hunt expressing her appreciation for the money received to help with her expenses to attend the National FHA Convention. Discussion was held concerning a grant to conduct a cabinet making class to be held at 7.30 a.m. in the morning at Delta High School. Waldo Warnick will teach the class. It was the consensus of the Board of Education to Conduct this program. Mr. Lynn McArthur and Mr. Jay Richntan were present to review the attendance policy for the school year 1978-79- . Member Giristcnsen made a motion to adopt the policy with the changes as discussed, seconded by Member Frampton and carried unanimously by the Members of the Board. The meeting adjourned at 6.30 p.m. The next regular meeting will be held on September 6, 19"'8 in the District Office, Delta, Utah.
