Show New asphalt plant coming to Fillmore By Marge Barton There will soon be another new industry in Fillmores Industrial Park when Robert Edison gets his new asphalt plant in operation. Edison has received his equipment and w ill have it all in place and operational in about a month. The Pug Mill, Elevator, and Dryer are in place now. The fiO thousand pound Rock Crusher has arrived from Toronto, Canada, and is being assembled. Edison said. "The engine alone for this giant rock crusher weighs 8,000 pounds." Bob stated he has the largest backhoe in Millard County which will aid in his new endeavor. He said the state and county will purchase asphalt and crushed gravel from him for jobs in this area that arc too small for them to set up plants of their own. The aggregate (crushed gravel) is sent through the drum dryer for a mixing process where the needed additives arc included. The result is 60 tons of asphalt per hour which can be "made and laid at approximately 50 of the cost of concrete." according to Edison. The smoke created by this new plant will be caught in a scrubber which literally washes the smoke with water and takes the impurities, along with Edison said. the smell, out of it. Now, remember, make the day and meet the text of us at the North Park Amphitlieatie at 8:15 on Julv 4th. SEE VOL III! RE!!! Well we made it thru May and I really have nothing spectacular to report. Just the same old thing-t- he vacuum has been on the fritz, the wind blew the sheets off the line, no new kittens, and our new machine finally arrived in Delta after a 3 month wait only to have a defective part. So the installer packed his tools and headed back to Calif. We are back to looking at our nice shiny new machine, waiting for the part and a new installer. Rita has been sun tanning. She got this idea when Tom and Marilyn came back from Hawaii all brown and smiling. So out she went, bathing suit, sun tun ml ,md her towel. She is hack in every five minutes to see if she has a "line." I have tried several times to explain to her that the factory equipment she came with includes a beautiful, natural tan and all this "laying out" is a little ridiculous, but she is persistant. Of course, my trouble with her "tanning" is just jealousy. 20 minutes for me results in my body looking like a lobster and feeling like I have just been dipped in the boiling water. And my efforts are seldom rewarded with anything that resembles a tan, instead it is usually a peal. I finally heard from the wandering John, he is in Anchorage. Alaska "gilling and gutting sockcyc salmon." He says it is an interesting experience but definitely not as fulfilling as newspapering in Millard County. He didnt mention when he expected to return or what am to do with the boat in my living room. But while John is away Shtdlie and I will play and just as soon as we figure out how to get it out ol the living roe'm and attached to the ear we are giving on a cruise. I dont know whether she thinks I lack talent or she hates the noise. But despite the critics I don't know when I have done anything I have enjoyed so much or found so relaxing. 1 1 until Tuesday noon to submit articles for the paper.
