Show MiUard County l uK?2 frogress, Fillmore, I'tah 84631 Friday , May 5, 1978 csaa Our Town ONEYEAROLD Mil LARD CQUN Susan Fine Arts Guild closing All during the dreary months, when the foliage is gone from the trees and shrubs, and one can see into the backyards of each home where there are old cars and broken machinery sitting rusting along with accumulated trash, which just seems to pile up during the winter, I just cant make myself tour the streets of "Our Town. Now, however, when the foliage is covering the trees and shrubs, the flowering crabs are at their best, the lawns are mowed and well groomed, and all or most of the ugliness lies hidden by the foliage, I just beam as we ride around town and note all of the beauty to be seen in nearly every home. Some blocks, such as the Harold Hatton street, 2nd West between 1st and 2nd South, have mowed almost the entire street. Just a couple of families did not cooperate in making the neighborhood clean-up- . Perhaps it is contagcous and by next week, when we take our tour, they will have contracted the clean-ugerm. We surely hope it is real contagcous. Wouldn't Mayor Golden Wright be happy to see so many new homes in fillmore? He used to say to me "Stella, the trouble with Fillmore is that most people . own more property than they can properly keep well L groomed. If each one would sell at least half of their land, and new homes would be built on the property, Sola Robison and Stephen Morgan sour job as Civic Improvement Chairman would be nearly solved since there would be homes on each ; II fl fl I U tl I t ll WllTl block instead of empty lots full of junk. Farther north, on 1st West between 1st North and 2nd North, the June Dutsons are adding one more home to that fast growing district. Mr. and Mrs. Kim Quarnberg arc building their first home on the former Henry Whicker property on 3ul West between 2nd and 3rd North. There are two new homes on Canyon Road, which we will talk about next week along with one or two others of w hich I have little information at the present time. We especially enjoyed this tour as so mam homes arc well groomed, as well as glowing with vivid colors from the spring Bowers. Many homes have gorgeous plantings of tulips, flowering shrubs, and trees Just one Bowel ing crab tree adds so much beautv to a neighborhood. Gene and Lillian McBride always have a most attractive home anytime of the year as do Neldon and Dolorus Brunson. The large beautiful tulips certainly brighten the Angie and Jim Green home and the George and Nina Bruson home is just breathtaking w ith the manv colors of spring Bowers. It is no wonder that I can hardlv stav in the house long enough to write one biographv a dav (unless it is raining and I can't w ork outside). m The dosing social of the Fast Millard Fine Arts Guild was a huge success. It was held Saturday, April 29, 1978. in the Old Stale Capitol Ballroom where tables for four and a long table for Guild officers were tastefully set and decorated with bouquets of local Bowers.
