Show M631Pridy, May 28, IT MILLARD COUNTY PROGRESS FlBeeore, Utah u OUR TOWN j , At 1 i:k editor sweet, sweet home What is it which male us trust or distrust some ooe? It must be inborn since small babies have it. Yesterday, 1 saw a darling little girl about six months old being held by a total stranger. The baby cuddled up to her and was perfectly content until suddenly Mother appeared on the scene. That baby's whole face, beginning with her eyes lighted up with a smile truly divine. Just what was it the baby felt when it saw its mother? h was that pure, unselfish mothers love. A mother would deny herself anything if she thought her child needed it. Anyone else can feed the baby and satisfy its physical needs. But mother's love goes far beyond all of thoae mundane things. Often that love wraps itself so strongly around the child that it becomes a guide post all through life. Such was the love Abraham Lincoln's mother had for him. That is why the home is so important, h b one of the reasons we want to keep Our Town a clean, wholesome hometown where children can be taught to respect the rights of others. They must learn how to enjoy public property and maintain it in such a way that others who come later may have the same opportunity. Our New Park is ope of our most priceless posessions. h becomes more valuable each day as new features are added from time to time. The $400 we just won from the efforts of volunteers who helped improve the park will be spent for more improvements. Special dedication exercises with many outstanding features will be held in the New Park celebrating our Bicentennial Fourth of July. Many special guests are expected to be with us during the three day's celebration. As we drove around town enjoying looking at the many yards filled with colorful flowers. We especially enjoyed the yards in which the many different colored iris are in bloom. No flower has the range of colors found in the iris family. Many new tints, tones and shades have been added in the last few years. The superior texture, better branching with many more blooms make iris a must in every flower lover's garden. It was easy to tell the homes where children have been taught to put their bicycles and toots in a certain sectioo of the yard in order that the beauty of the overall picture will not be marred. There should always be a special area for took, toys, garbage cans, more or less hidden by shrubs and trees. Then those whoL drive by the yard will be able to enjoy the sight' seeing drives we each take occasionally. '' " If children are taught to properly take care of their toys, tools and bicycles, it will help them later in life to properly -- well-ke- June nation into an acute care facility and responding to the demands of modern medical care. It is a much different place than it was a var ago, Hundreds of changes have been made under the super-- v ision of Mr. Robison and Mr. Packer. The newly organized hospital volunteers, and other groups, such as the Jeep Posse, have assisted in making many of these changes. We shall not detail them here. Many more advances are planned for the new future. Our feelings regarding the need for a hospital adequate for primary care as well as capable for handling all emergencies, have been Edilor. PROGRESS: The Memorial Day weekend marks the one year anniversary of our arrival in Fast Millard County. The time has flown by. Wc feel we are well settled, and quite content with our new life here. We have been warmly by our fellow citizens, the overwhelming majority of whom we feel are friendly, helpful and honest. The lacy leaves turn a dark green later in fall. Another beautiful tree on the lawn at Lon Huntsman's is a pink horsechestnut tree with large dusters of pink flowers. Although in our last weeks column, we mentioned over 36 new homes in Fillmore, we still didnt get all of them. Others include the Jack Petersons lovely home at 95 E. 500 S.', and the Roy Turnbaugh home just west of it. The Birrell Hirschi home on 2nd West between 4th and y 5th South is being finished while still occupying the home. Mr. Hirschi is employed by the B.L.M. The neighborhood leading to the Wild Life Park oo Fust South near 2nd East has been greatly unproved by die addition of the beautifully designed home of Mr. and Mrs. Duain Gee. Ralph Memmott is still working to complete his new home at 300 E 3rd S. There are many residents who are remodeling homes and improving their yards. Laura Anderson has just completed extensive remodeling on her home. Laura b an expert on raising difficult plants. Her yards are filled with the unusual. Max and LaVoy Martin are diligently working at their remodeling. Lea and Layton Barkdull are finishing the siding on their home. Ray and Geraldine Rosvall are constantly adding some new feature to their home. This seems to be contagious as, both Blaine Huntsman and neighbor Delon Averett have' i been making improvements on their homes. Fern Holdaway has had her whole house pointed.
