U'e generally get the plowing done In the fall, but last year the snow began falling before our gardens were even harvested. We finally got the garden plowed, however and second grade The much needed rain storm helped to bring up the rest of the seeds (as well as softening the lumps, making them easier to break), the sun Is shining, and we have hopes that we have escaped a frost which really woul have made us discouraged. Instead we are once more enthused about the possibility of a good garden this year. We have been busy taking pictures of some of the Improvements which are being made In Our Town - the new steel framework for the Warner Motors Is really Impressive. The owners, Joseph, e red and Kirk Warner p.:t their profits back Into their business, which does a great deal to bring new business to Our Town. year's achievements. If we carrots tomato plants. KELLY'S COUNTRY STORE" SIGN ground was too wet and the plowing imply turned the soli Into adobes. If you have noticed us out In the yard beating the ground with the shovel, we were busy trying to beak the lumps In our soil. After many days we succeeded to a certain degree, but the soil was still too coarse. The small seeds just would not germinate. In vain we have waited for our carrots to come through the ground, but have had to give up In despair and replant. Large seeds such as peas, squash, cucum-ber- s, corn are all growing and we were even proud of our tomato patch until we saw Nell Huntsman's beautiful plants -and those of her son Dr. Blaine Huntsman. Once more we we re deflated, when suddenly we noticed our row of radishes and sure enough we pulled enough of the most delicious, tender crisp red globes to spice up our dtn.ier, we also had asparagus and rhubarb from our garden which helped to take away the BIG Dev el tional department. Each grocery store In town has purchased new fixtures, Duane's Market, Keily'sLG.A.. Stevens A. G. Market and Pioneer Market. These stores are well stocked, and there Is no reason for Fillmore area residents to go elsewhere. The best In meats and groceries as well as any other commodities are there. The more money we spend In Our Town, the better off each of us will be. Money spent elsewhere only helps to build up that section of the state at the expense of our own. In the betterment of the community and In the more Important cause, that of and helping mankind.
