Show Local Strident Gets Reader's Digest Award Tess Robison, valedictorian of the graduating class at MILS 13 Y STELIA are hoping to have the sewer all Installed ami the roads passable by the last of July, In order that Our Town may win the $300 worth of trees, which are presented to the town having the most entries In the Tribune Beautification Contest. The contest Is really sponsored by the Salt Lake Tribune, the I'tah Associated Carden Clubs, the I'tah State University and the Utah Associated Nurserymen. The trees are awarded by the Utah Associated Nurserymen, but ech of the sponsoring organisations has apart in financing the contest. We won the two years ago, but were so torn up last year that we didnt stand a chance In w inning a Beautification Award. There are so many different classifications that every one can enter In some catagory. Even If you don't win personally, by entering you help the town win the trees If we have the most entries for a small town. Even though It Is difficult to drive around such hazardous streets, we took the chance Just to note how every one Is doing this summer, and were happy to see the many faithful citizens who are mowing their streets and keeping their homes well groomed In spite of sewer This proves It can be done, but of course, It takes more work than usual, but Fillmore residents are noted for their Industry. It Is heart warming to note the new homes and the many Improvements being made all trenches. DAY over the town, proving the confidence we have In the future. Just west of the Cloyd Day home on Fifth South, the Jack Petersons have the foundation built for their new home; and in the opposite end of town -F tfth North and First East, Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne Bayles are progressing rapidly on their new home. The busiest section of town at present seems to be Just east of us on Center Street, across the Chalk Creek and on up to the top of the hill. On top of the hill Is the new site for the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Day. Just west of their home, the strating qualities of a fine huenland. He has been busily gaged In painting and remodeling the small home between Inez Ashmans and Ross Warner's, which he and his bride Ann Christensen, will move Into following their marrage. Ann Is still In school, but has been giving him encouragement and suggestions on the weekends. John and Bene Cooper have' had the home they own next to their own painted on the outside which please Jolene and Sherm Stephenson who live there. Touring around the town Is a slow process, because of the Jogs In each street, however, to build their ing of the Bud Payne home -- the bricks are painted white with a bright blue trim around the windows, etc. We also noted the remodeling being done on the GarnandBeth Whatcott home, and the Rudgar Ashby home.
