August 1971, to be judged. De - 13-1- Time to Prepare for Judges on Improvements Next week we shift from Individual articles, to homes, business houses, public buildings, parks, gardens, neighborhoods Improvements whkdi have been accomplished since last year. The Judges will stop at the Individual entries and judge them first, but once they finish those, their attention turns to the town as a whole. They will ride up and down each street, point scoring as they go, taking off pilnts for weeds along ditch banks, on the earner of Lhe blocks, for vacant lots, vacant sh.diby n houses, and for old can cluttering up the landrun-dow- scape. So many well kept homes In OUR TOWN are down graded by weeds out in front, along Lhe ditch banks and on the comen of the blocks. Resi- dents on streets facing each other should get together foe a few hours each late afternoon and dean up the streets and sidewalks, for it can be done. Gussie Keslers, Marshall, the Grant Jessie Thornton, the Charles Millers and Camille Hunter won the award last year for their project. This year the residents on F;nt West between First and Second South have the only street atolutely free of weeds with all four comen well groomed. N dde arvd Lila Day were chairmen of this project, the homes on which are occupied by Zina Stott, the Gene the LaMar Brunsons, Days, and the Kent Daltons. Wouldn't it be a thrill If each corner in Fillmore were as Inviting as on tha bliick! LDS. For CALLED Mr. and Mrs. A. LaVoy Kimball (Elaine hnd LaVoy) have been called Into the mission field by the Church of Jesus Entire Town We have forty entries In the Tribune. Utah Associated Nurserymen, USU. UAGC, Beautification contest, to be Judged separately. After these entries are judged, the Judges will drive armnd each part of town, punt scoring the town as a un t. These forty entries wilt certainly help raise our score, but like the "rotten apple In a barrel of apples", one home can sp il a whole street. On some of the blocks, all of the homes are well grojmrd but the ones on the corners, and that weedy corners ruins the whole blx-k- . reading Christ of Latter-da- y Saints, to serve in Nauvoo, Illinois, They will rcjxirt there August 15, 1971. after one week In Salt Lake City.
