Goosie and Dave Eichelberger outshot Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus in a head-to-head duel Saturday to tie them for the lead after three three rounds of $200,000 National Four-Ball Golf Championship. Goosie and Eichelberger, both looking for their first victory, teamed for an eight-under-par 33 while Palmer and Nicklaus scored a seven-under-par 64 that left the two teams deadlocked at 192, 21-under-par for 54 holes. Eichelberger created the deadlock when he put his tee shot at the 216 yard 17th hole, six feet from the pin and Goosie sank the birdy putt. “We could havebiry ‘2d every hole on the back nine,” said Eichleberger. “We had a shot at all of them.” Four other teams were within five strokes, including Crville Moody and Bruce Crampton, who also had 64 Saturday, as Moodybirdied eight holes in a 10-hole stretch midway through 4, e round.
