Larson, history professor at BYU, submitted its findings to the commission last fall, During the past week the city commission accepted the panel's report, ; concluding that the Mormon settlers arrived April 1, 1849, and after a day of exploration, began construction of Fort Utah April 3. The city officials have adopted the latter date as Provo’s official birthday and urge that it be commemorated as such. Herewith is the full committee report.
