Hasegawa On the beautiful snowy morning of Nov. 26, 2003, heaven gained another tenant. Our wonderful wife and mother gave up her courageous battle with cancer. Mom was born on Sept. 25, 1931 in omer Canyon, Utah to Peter and Phyllis Niksich. She married Glen Stuart Brixey on May 19, 1950. Our mom was a devoted member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church where she had many friends. She loved to bake, play bingo and bonco, and go to Wendover (not necessarily in that order), Tillie leaves behind her husband, Glen, of 53 years; her daughters, Barbara (Jim) Snook, West Valley City; Glenda (Howard) “wk Kearns; sons, Delbert, Key West, FL; Stanley (Tammy), Vancouver, WA; and David (JoLyn), Salt Lake City. She is also survived by her grandchildren, DeeDee, Tracy, Jimmy, Scott, Josh, Mandy, Zach, Adam, Aubrey, Asia, Glen, and Krysta; also by her greatgrandchildren, Ashley, Jake, Breanna, Wesley, Haley, Taylor, Danyelle, Dylan, and Hannah (who is due any day); her brother, Pete (Nettie) NikAnn Warren M. Funeral Susan Oakason Hamlin “Kate” Susan "Kate" Oakason Hamlin pee away at home surrounded by er family on November 22 in Apple Valley, CA. Susan was born September 10, 1950 in Salt Lake City, UT of John Edmund Oakason, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Harrison Oakason. In 1968, soon after graduating from Highland High in Salt Lake, she married Edwin "Ed" Thomas Hamlin. In 1971, they moved from Salt Lake to Denver, CO where they lived for the next 26 years. In 1995, they moved to Washington State and resided on Fox Island. They relocated to Apple Valley, CA in 2001, Susan was a naturally gifted artist, expert seamstress, and first-rate cook, She loved gardening and literature. She was a committed wife, mother, friend, and homemaker. Sensitive and passionate, she was always ready to elp, support, and defend loved ones, friends, and her values. Susan was exceptionally witty and admired for her strength. Supporting Ed Vingesen his 30-year military career, Susan was an honorary Green Beret and was an example of courage to those Special Forces soldiers that knew and loved her. Susan will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Susan is survived by her husband Edwin T, Hamlin, daughters Jacqueline L. Royer of San Jose, CA and Nicole M. Hamlin of Aurora, CO, brother John E. Oakason, Ill of Sedona, AZ and sister Mary Ann Oakason Major of Temple, AZ. He was born March 30, 1935 in Upper Little River, North Carolina, a son of French Edward and Bettie Black Holder. On March 23, 1959, Clyde married Gayle Friedl. She was born July 29, 1916, in Liberty, Utah, a daughter of Thomas George Jr. and EmmaRetta Atkinson Willard. She was raised in Liberty and lived in Ogden, On June 16, 1936, Fay married Elden David Hogge in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on October 23, 2001. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Canyon View 4th Ward Canyon View Stake. She loved Relief Society and served many years faithfully as Hooper “Together Again” School Secretary, Sunday School Teacher and Librarian. Fay worked for Vogels and Pow- Bud" (Verena) Willard, and onesis- ter, Dorothy (Gene) Sanders, both of Liberty. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Glen Willard, J, Parley Willard, two sisters, Emma Taylor, Mary Wight, and two greatgrandchildren, Megan and Kyle Kennedy. Though he began as a freshwater fly-fisher on the rivers of the Rocky Mountains, he developed a special love for saltwater angling and traveled to the Bahamas, Boca Paila, Christmas Island and Key West to stalk bonefish, permit, tarpon and iant trevally. Born May 25, 1939 in Price, Utah to Sylvia Day and Lawrence "Fritz" Op- ocher. Married Carol Petitti March 3, 1961 in Elko, Nevada. In her lifetime, he is the only man she has ever loved. Although he is gone, time will never erase the love and feelings between them. He served in the U.S. Army from September of 1961 to September of 1964, stationed in Germany. He dedicated his life to serving others. John always stood up and fought for the underdog in the positions he held in his Unions: Steward for the Steward Laborers Union; Past President of Local 7889 United Steel Workers of America; Ist Vice President Jewel Newman 1928 ~ 2003 at "mac" Paul McCann, in 1938. They lived on assignment by the U.S. Deartment of Agriculture in Louisiana, cuador and ashington D.C. They spent most of their lives living in suburban Maryland. Through Mac's work as Chief of Foreign Relations for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Dott had many friends around the world. She and Mac retired to Tucson, Arizona and after Mac’s death Dotty returned to Utah as a full time resident. Dotty will be remembered for her ever-present smile, friendly manner and the vibrant colors she dislayed as a versatile artist all her ife. Dotty was a lifelong and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dotty is survived by her son David L. McCann of Salt Lake City; daughter Kathleen McCann Scribner of Hyattsville, Maryland; grandson Quinn L McCann; granddaughters Chandra Green, Cory McCann, and Kelly McCann; brother Ira Larsen of Tucson, Arizona; niece Dixie Mecham Whitaker of Salt Lake City. Dotty is preceded in death by her son, Michael, age three, in 1944, her sister iris Larsen Mecham Brown in 1980, and her husband Mac in 1982. She was born September 20, 1943 in Salt Lake City to A. Frank and Reba Ballard Carn. Attended South High School. She married Terrell Don Thompson on November 23, 1963; later divorced. Lois was a faithful member of the LDS Church, serving as primary teacher. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was loved by all. Lois is survived by her mother; sons, Kevin T. and Jeffrey P. Thompson; sister, Carolyn ety Condiff; brothers, Gregory F., Michael B., and Phillip F. (Debbie); and, grandchil- dren, Jamison and Anthony. Predeceased by her father. Newman of Bountiful, 75, died Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at her winter home in Indio, CA of heart failure, in the company of her husband, Kenneth. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, August 27, 1928 to Oscar Stensland and Adele Schodtler and graduated from Taft High where she met an LDS friend, Bonnie Turner, whose Bishop father and family loved her into the church, She saved her own funds to attend Brigham Young University, and on her first day there, attending a BYU football game with her Chicago roommate, met Ken who sat behind Dorothy "Dotty" Larsen McCann, age Temple. Anderson “Will Be Missed” 89, died peacefully of natural causes in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 28, 2003. Dotty was born and raised in Brigham City, Utah. Her parents were Ira Walter Larsen and Clara Christoffersen Larsen. She attended two years at Weber College and began her career as a teacher in a one room school in Thatcher, Utah. Dorothy “Dotty” Grandchildren; John L. Oppocher Teodora Becerra Montanez passed away peacefully on November 26, 5004 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born April 1, 1910 in San Francisco, Del Ricon, GTO, Mexico to Cisto and Victoria Becerra. She married Felix Montanez on June 18, 1924 in Caliente, Nevada. Edwin Andrew Hooper passed away Nov. 26, 2003 after a long illness. he was born to Orville A. Hooper and Eva Hill Hooper on July 20, 1917 in Park Rose, Bre. He attended West High. He later married Ruth Katherine Clawson on Aug. 23, 1941. He was a member of the L.D.S. He spent his life as a tool and die maker. He mastered making models to erfection. He spent many enjoyable jours oil and watercolor painting. He Nester, his sons, Chad Jr, Danny and Clay; Sisters, Chelene (Darby) Paiz and Dana (Albert) Taylor; and other family, Shane Gibson and the Mother of his children Callie Hardy. He was born on August 25, 1979 in Salt Lake City, Utah. As a young child it was apparent that he was precocious, had a strong sense of individuality and had a talent for making others laugh. He , attended Rowland Hall St. Mark's from kindergarten through high school, graduating in 1998. During these years he developed the precious friendships that lasted through his life. Together they had two children, son, Randy, who died at nine months old and daughter, Marsha (Marci) Mitchell-Bills, She also raised her “little boy” William Y. Bills USN, USS Enterprise, whom she was very proud of. She was a caring, sweet, unselfish lady who spoke her mind. She loved her family dearly. At the time of her death she was making quilts for Primary Children’s NICU with her sisters and a She enjoyed the Jazz, crossword puzzles, playing games, woodworking projects and just plain visiting. She loved and spoiled her two pups, Tabor and Mya. She was a member of the LDS Church. Apostle Ezra Taft Benson sealed them in the Salt Lake LDS Temple four days later. Their “ape ape produced six children, all of whom survive her; Julie McDonald (Scot), Kristine Day (David); Laura Newman, Kenneth David, Amy Newman and George Morris (Kristen) Newman; 13 grandchildren; and two es dren, Her husband enneth Dale survives. Her parents and two brothers pre-deceased her. She loved music, taught piano, was an excellent bridge pisver (loved by so many bridge “girls"). Next only to her husband and family, she loved her church and Savior, and a very close third was her passion for her Bear lake Home at Laketown, the site of ne stays, family reunions, three-day bridge orgies, and great spiritual enjoyment. Her extensive church service included nearly every office in the Young Women’s and she received her Golden Gleaner Award in 1960. Her several Laurels are among her friends. Archie April 7, dren, to Gehring on the was born in Malta, Idaho on 1908, the third of seven chilDavid Enoch and Margarete Sawyer. His early youth was family ranch up to the 8th grade. It took him three years to finish the fifth grade as his education was interrupted to help with the crops. He met Vida Evelyn Peterson in Salt Lake City during the depression, and they were married on Christmas Eve 1931. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They moved to California where he worked in his father s car painting business. He later became a neon glass blower, working for his brother David who owned Marveon Sign Co. in Rock Springs, Wyoming. When David moved the business to Ogden, Utah, Archie started Sawyer Sign Co. in Rock Springs and ran the business for nearly 40 years until he retired and moved to Orem in 1975. He made one nostalgic trip to fish his favorite creek in Wyoming, but jumping rock- to-rock fell and broke his ribs and bruised his bottom. Archie was a High Priest in the LDS Church and served as a bishop s counselor and on the High Council until being made Bishop of the Rock Springs Second Ward. He was a master electrician and did all of the wiring for the newly-constructed Stake Center while serving as bishop. Archie is survived by his wife of 72 ears, his son Dr. Melvin (Sylvia) awyer of Orem, his daughter-in-law Jeanne O Mara of Springfield, Virgs and his sister Wanda Peiczar of hula Vista, California. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and nvmerous iy randchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Carol and her husband Don Jetlovchan, his son Major General David A.
