Senatorsays Snake River damswill remain eLearn pe HAILEY, Idaho U.S. Sen. Larry Craig insists Congress would never allow breaching of four lower Snake River dams to help salmon runs, no matter what former Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt thinks. The former Clinton administration secretary was in vig: by the recent energy crisis, Craig bitt said the dams must be breachedto save the wild runs. Craig cited the recent salmon runs which are records for the years in which the dams have been in place. President Bush plans to visit Ice Harbor Dam on the lower Snaketoday. Congress’ resolve not to said. If hydroelectric power generated by the Northwest dams had to be replaced with other sources, he said, it would increase the per-kilowatt-hourcost between 200 and 300 percent. “I’m not willing to wipe out the Northwest economyfor the fish,” Craig said. { i | f j > | i -ey% Dack-tO-OCnOO | [ i ae THROUGH SEPTEMBER1 » | ee S owe Entire 5 ~ KELT?C 30 MODELS 8 MODELS 13 MODELS : {| 0/ 4 A 0% ‘ i ) at ee Stock 1st rday, Ord 6) ' | om8 a.m. until 11:30 am. 00 ~ Adults d..un.9de3.r. . *2 00 Children 10 an 0 ~ I\ || SY 33/0 PROCEEDS NOUNTISHITH pana ARCTERYX 10 MODELS 5 MODELS 5 MODELS } - o * 3125 S.
