These tworatings-challenged series have been renewed. NBC Entertainment President Jeffrey Zucker recently announced that “Passions” will be around for at least another year. And ABC has renewed “PC” for two more years. Despite poor ratings, these unseasoned daytime dramas are creative gems. “Passions” has pushed the boundaries of daytime storytelling with some outlandishtales. “PC” has become the radical daytime soap by going from oneend ofthe spectrum to the other with its series of books. Viewers are treated to a new tale every six weeks, and the showis becominga cultfavorite amongteens and college students. The renewing of these soaps is a shot in the arm to the creative communitymonn’in daytime.It is a show of support for a medium that has gone through some difficult times.
