The movie industry's two major trade papers, Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, each reported someofthe 100-plus titles that will be -in Park City and other Utah locations whenthefestival rolls Jan. 18-28. Sundance officials will not confirm anything until the slate is officially announced Tuesday. Here, according to the two trade the menu: cacophony. Noise and commotionare Joe’s stock in trade, along with the seafood thatfills its menu.This is not the spot for a contemplative meal. doe’s'is the place to go when you don’t Wantto dress up and every baby’sitter has disappeared from the planet. Kids love this place: Notofily are the walls andceilings cluttered with junk, butthere is a designated “rugrat room” with a paddedfloor anda slide, plus regular ‘floor shows starring Joe’s serversand anyoneelse whofeels like dancing. Predictably, the food and service get secondbilling to all that music‘and movement. While the menu-effers good variety and a wide price range, someofthe food is mediocre, either because it is poorly, seasoned, lukewarm or looks-tike it was prepped hours earlier. dJoe’s Crab Shacks arepart of a 30-state chain that also includes The Grab House, Landry’s Seafood House and Willie G’s Seafood and Steakhouse, all owned by Landry's Seafood Restaurants. Unfortunately, Joe's food can look andtastelike it was made according to.a formula. It is painfully obvious some of them arestill in training: When we found what appeared to be a wire staple in a hamburgerbun,our serveroffered a free dessert instead of replacing the sandwich.That was nice gesture but the wrong remedy and not in keeping with restaurant policy, whichis to inform managementof such problems. Joe’s is a new concept in Salt Lakedining,onethat will appeal to families with young children and seafood lovers who can’t or don’t wantto paytop dollar for top quality food.If you like your crab with cacophonyontheside,plan a fishingtrip to Joe's.
