After 14 years in Park City the conference is moving down the mountain, making it more convenient to most Utah-based writers and audiences. The conference will offer Jeannette Haien buffs. Chairmanof the English department at Southern Utah University, he has published 11 books of poetry. His poems are workshops on writing novels, shortstories, nonfiction and poet: ry. The weeklong event also in cludes panel discussions and vernacular, their humor and their colorful depictions of rural life. But once we got past this notion, what we heard was a bona-fide Johannesen recital Pieces by Ravel, Chopin, Rach: maninoff and Schubert arein cluded on Johannesen’s Piano: Disc. Of particular interest are Robert Schumann's “Nachtstucke” and two pieces by the play, thensteppedtothe pianofor a couple of captivating encores. Johannesen’s incomparable artistry came through loud and ciear. His mature executions area rare pleasure.
