Show CITY COUNCIL DENIES at the regular meeting of 0 the city council held heid last evening tho the mayor all councilmen and the recorder were present james knudson representing the executive committee for peach day appeared and asked the city to give the committee the use of the city park on peach day and county fair to be hed two days and also to purchase the ball park for the use of the committee on such dates the purchase price to be about tanager manager B P critchlow of the C W 11 co and J W baker of 0 the baker lumber co were granted a permit to erect a sheet iron shed over the he yard of the lumber company 23 25 feet wide by 70 feet long said permit being good tor for three years request of C W derrll of the merrell lumber co for permission to erect a building on their place of business to be covered with some iron combustible combus comb table material was referred to the committee on fire department with power to act agent W IV bronson of the 0 S L R R co presented a petition from said company asking the city to pass on the 0 ordinance granting the company the privilege of constructing ear tain tracks across forest st referred to committee on laws with power to act E W dunn and it kaiser representing senti tig the committee appointed appoint sd at a meeting of the citizens held april 3rd ard to consider the proposition ot of granting a franchise to the 0 S L R R co to build a street railway from the depot on one of the streets of brig ham lam city appeared and stated that li was the sense of the meeting that a franchise be granted to said railroad company it was also stated that it was the general sentiment of the meet ng that the grade of forest street be maintained by the 0 ogden den rapid transit co and not to extend its tracks urther further than the east cast boundary of th 0 S L ry right of way 11 II N doering appeared and presented a n petition signed by himself and six others asking the city to create a paving district on the south side ol of forest street from slain main street to the 0 S L depot referred to committee on streets and sidewalks side alks A protest was received from charles T adderson Ah derson and 15 others asking the city to not grant the application ofte of the 0 S L for a franchise lor for a street railway on forest street application of thos connolly for or license to conduct a retail liquor business for three months was wag granted application of rudolph kaiser for license to conduct a retail liquor business for three months was referred back to him to bo be presented in proper form A number of petitions were presented asking to have the city water mains extended and were granted except in the case of N J valentine et al which was denied b corn com on electric lights reported that agreement had been entered in into to with the county to build feet of retaining wall near the power plant each to bear halt half of the expense report accepted and filed committee on laws and ordinances reported on the proposed franc franchise francale blE of the ia P S L R R co and recommended that it be not granted in its present form report and recommendations adopted |
