Show THE ELECTION well it Is all al over but the shouting and that is likely to continue atthille yet though citizens generally accept the verdict and chile the defeated party feels sad the expressions are not bitter by any means for everyone realizes that the people have spoken and the majority aln ays rule now the thing to do is to make it unanimous and forget all about the strenuous days of the campaign during which many unkind things were said on both sides and many hard feelings engendered just forget it all and pull together 1 c for the up building of the county state and nation and there will be no danger from any source the people of utah are just about the most intense people in the world when ihen it comes to public questions the majority of them have been taught certain principles from infancy up as being right and true until those things become second nature with the person when we divide on party lines we manifest that same confidence jn in our partisan politics and right to the very last for that which we feel is right and the strange thing about it 1 1 all is that we look at the same question so vastly differently this ought to help us all to be calm and judicious in our politics ever remembering that our very dearest friend might differ with us politically and yet we are willing to trust him with our all in it any other thing our state has not become corrupt so that there is danger to the freedom of the people if either of the great national parties are elected to power our rights are as sate safe guarded when one party Is in power as they their would be should the other baity be entrusted with the reins of government it is simply a matter of having the party with which we affiliate elected that concerns us most after all and the government goes on just tile the same no matter who gets there but that intensity with which we fight our political battles leads us to lo become unreasonable many times and while laboring under that condition words nords are uttered that had better arel been left unsaid friendships are seriously damaged it if not entirely broken and the peace of the community is more or less disturbed when afie heat of battle Is on it takes a good man to be able to keep his head but how much better it is to swallow ones wrath and clench the angry word that is see ething and boiling to be released for when calmer moments come they bring with them a satisfaction far greater than words cari can express thail that wisdom vis dorn and self control won the day now it is all over good men have been elected we can afford to make it unanimous and to help them give us a good government |
