concern this certifies that on the fifteenth day of october 1889 elder john B milner was excommunicated from the church of jesus christ of lat ter day saints bythe by the high council of st johns stake 3 for not complying with a decision of this high duncil council rendered render ed june 8 1888 SAMUEL D moore clerk of high council returned elders elder 0 G workman of this city returned on the dinst from a mission on which he left on the oi of january mt last he labored the first five months in tennessee essee alabama and georgia he then went to illinois where he remained till his release in the latter state considerable of his time was occupied in gathering genealogy elder wr W 8 henegar of eden city returned a few days since from a mission to the southern states he started on the 1st ast of september 1888 and upon arriving at Chatta chattanooga noo middie a was ass assigned to labor in the middle tennessee conference where he remained for one year during this time he had many opportunities of expounding the gospel and the satisfaction of baptizing eight persons besides assisting iu the baptism of others some little opposition was encountered from mobs but no violence was used on the other hand many kind friends were met with the latter part of elder Hene gars mission was passed in harding county kentucky where there are to be found a number of faithful saints and othera interested in the gospel elder P W baker of beaver city utah has just returned from a miss mission iori to england he started on his journey on may 1887 arriving in Liver liverpool popl on june he was appointed traveling elder lt in the london conference in company with elder hyer and labored in the kentish district during the summer months the elders held open air meetings in a number of towns and villages and were well received by the people elder baker was afterwards assigned to the norwich conference fe rence where he labored for nearly a year and a half some opposition was encountered but no actual violence elder baker obtained his release on september 1889 having while in england having taken part in the baptism of twenty two persons november 11 we received a call from elder neils 0 who has just returned from a mission to the northwestern states whither lie he went on the of april 1888 nine months of his mission was spent in eastern wisconsin the first six months being among the oneida and stockbridge indians he was kindly received while laboring among them through the hostility of sectarian ministers however he was compelled to leave in february brother was transferred to johnson county illinois where kind treatment was generally given give nhim him the people are indifferent however to the gospel since april his labors have been in southern indiana his mission was somewhat flom shortened by having to acrum accompany F any brother B A 0 of holden millard county home the latter has been sick for a month past with chills and fever brother returns in good health and spirits elder benjamin of holden millard cou county n ty returned home november 9 from a mission to southern illinois and southern indiana if he e left U utah tab on april 1888 and first labored in Hamil hamilton tot county illinois illino i s in company with thoele tooele in this part the two elders made many friends but there was not much disposition amo among ng the people to investigate the gospel next elder proceeded to perry county cou n ty illinois I 1 illnois Ili nois having as his traveling companion prest president 0 L packer here again the efforts of the missionaries were not attended with any great measure of success perry county like that of hamilton being an old mission field in company with elder chas abas G hyde elder subsequently labored in gallatin county illinois in this district they were followed on two or three occasions by a small party of men and youths armed with sticks and clubs threats were liberally used but no violence was resorted to during the past summer elder was located in white county illinois and also spent a short time in southern indiana he had as a worker coworker co elder john H davies of garfield elder was released a few weeks ago owing partly to ill health november 18 we had the pleasure of meeting our old friend elder duncan M mcallister who returned november 16 from a mission to england he left home on the ath of may 1887 and was consequently absent two and a half years his labors were exclusively centered in the emigration and publishing ar ajami Aj agi A office in liverpool he not only had the oversight of the business department but participated in the labor connected with printing and pub lishing which has been conducted on an unusually large scale besides the issuance of the standard works of the church in large and cheap editions about tracts and pamphlets were published and widely r y distributed throughout the mission and much good was accomplished in this way brother mcallister during his stay abroad had occasional opportunities of visiting conferences throughout great britain and took much pleasure in meeting with the saints sainte during the present year he made a business trip to denmark sweden and norway in the interest of im migration matters brother mcallister returns in good health and with increased experience upon which he places a high value he has a host of friends who will be delighted to give him the right hand of welcome |
