Show THUGS ABROAD last fl friday luay evening about as he was vas returning from uptown P J peterson was pounced upon by a footpad and struck to the earth by a blow with some kind ot of an instrument which landed full on his chest just at the base 0 of the throat no attempt was made to rob him for as soon as he fell the thug sped away the blow landed with such force that mr en 8 speech was cut off for a time and he is not yet able to freely talk as aa was his want in all probability the attack was cashier JV edvis TJ ovis vIs 0 ot o the state bank tor for sirs mrs davis da had been disturbed by knockings knoch knock ings at tire the door previous to the occurrence and mr davis had also heard some one knocking at the door but when lie he went to answer found no one there ile he had returned home just a few minutes ahead of sir mr petersen with his big little boy from the merry go round and the fellow or fellows evidently knew lie he was out somewhere but missed him when lie he returned so when mr petersen came along his surprise can call best be imagined at it being knocked down dmn and in such a manner as to leave him speechless mr ir dais is mighty thankful he did not get the blow but is very sorry son tor for sir air petersen that gentleman is feeling all right again with the exception of his voice ile he Is still unable till to express himself clearly |
