Show A. I I f Clearfield Courier, February 27, 980, Page 1 1 1 Clearfield Fourth Ward Scout Awards Banquet Friday, Feb. 8th at 6:30 p.m. in the 4th Ward Cultural Hall. Those invited were all scouts from 8 years of age and their families. A was held The evening began with the Flag Ceremony led by Jeff Young who made the calls. Devin Jones carried the American Flag, Scott Lewis carried the Pack Falg and David Wardle carried the Troop Flag. When the flags were posted a patriotic ceremony was performed in which the colors of the flag were displayed separately using lights and an explanation of what each color stands for. Then all three lights were turned on and the boys said We all salute my flag. Following this was the Pledge of Allegiance and everyone sang God Bless America. Then everyone sat down to a delicious ham dinner with hot rolls and butter, pot luck salads and cake for dessert. Which was under the direction of Bro. John J. Boseman, First Counselor of the Bishopric. John Cannon and Gary Dean Yardley were welcomed into the Cub Scout Kelly Sessions: Athlete Activity Badge Dallas Sharbutt: Activity Badge Donald Love: Orville DeVore is presented the "Outstanding Scouter of the Year plaque by Clark Lewis for his outstanding and devoted service in the scout program. his life since 1961 when he was asked to be Guide Patrol Leader in Primary. Since then he has served as Assistant Scout Master and Scout Master at which time he attended the National Jamboree at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania in 1964. He has served as Stake Scout Leader and Area Commissioner. He was honored with a Merit Award. He took Wood Badge at Shavers Lake, California. He has been a Roundtable Com- Artist Geologist, Traveler, Artist Activity Badge Porter: Timothy Engineering, Geologist, Citizenship Activity Badge Michael Porter: Engineering, Geologist, Citizenship Activity Badge Doug Hunt presented Scott Lewis, Michael and Timothy Porter with their Arrow of Light Awards. Michael and Timothy graduated from the Cub Scouts. They earned all 15 activity badges. Scout Jeff Young received his Life Award and the swimming merit badge. Program. FOURTH WARD SCOUTS: awarded to Webelos Leader Orville DeVore for Outstanding Scouter of the Year. He has made scouting part of Arrow Point Corbin Young: Wolf Badge The following awards were presented by Clark Lewis Cub Master and Scout Master: Danny Garner: 1 Gold Arrow Point, 4 Silver Arrow Points Matt Reese: Wolf Badge, 1 Gold Arrow Point, 1 Silver missioner, District Commissioner, Cub Master and Assistant Cub Master. He has been Webelos Leader for learfield 4th Ward for several years and has done an outstanding job. If Orville couldnt be in David Wardle: 1st Class Kevin Lewis: 1st Class David Smith: 1st Class, First Aid and Swimming Merit Badges Danny Richardson was to receive his 1st Class but was not in attendance. Julie Jones Eyre and his sister Melinda Jones won the Family Category with an original vocal duet. They are looking forward to this new church wide On program. Sunday, the seventeenth of February Mrs. Helen Collard was released from her position as counselor in the Relief Society organization of the Clear field Fifth Ward. Mrs. Hazel Barnes then was sustained to fill the vacancy in this organization. The members of the Clearfield Fifth Ward, join with Mr. William Park 145 Locust Street, in the good news of his fathers fast recovery, who has been ill and is now convalescing in his home in Salt Lake City.
