Michael Perini What the members of the 4th Tactical Figher Squadron, 388th Tactical Figher Wing needed was a volunteer to paint a 10 x 22 wall mural in their main flight briefing room. What they got was a very special volunteer; one They couldnt refuse. She was Marcia Coppin, wife of 4TFW lieutenant and a mother of two pre-scho- children. For four months, Mrs. Coppin worked on finishing the wall mural emphasizing the history of flight. Pencil sketches outlining key events in aviation history were all that remained of an unknown unartists successful attempt to bring the wall to life. Mrs. Coppins interest in painting began in junior high school with poster art and graphic illustrations. Her interest continued to grow in painting to still life, pictures and renditions of various buildings she admired. While attending Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, she finished a small color abstract wall mural of f the college campus. Later, she attended Brigham Young 1 Utah ! where she completed three years of art courses. it University, Provo, Mrs. Coppin, who received a special appreciation award from the 4th TFS, says her painting wall mural days are not over.
