Mikkelsen to resign as dean Artistry at Work. no rims, clamps, lens assembly Dr. Robert S. Mikkelsen, dean of the Division of Humanities at Weber State College, has elected to resign his position as dean effective June 30 of this year, Dr. Dello G. Dayton, vice president for academic affairs, said today. Dr. Mikkelsen will return to the classroom as a e professor of language and literature in the WSC English department. He also plans to devote some of his time to creative and scholarly writing. He joined the WSC faculty in 1954, then left to teach at Palomar Community College in California from 1960 to 1965. He returned to the Weber State faculty in 1966. As a professor of English he has been a successful teacher anbd has had his work published widely in both scholarly and popular magazines. During the last several years, Dr, Mikkelsen has occupied academic positions of importance on the WSC campus. He served as president of the WSC Faculty Association and was also elected first chairman of the Faculty Senate. He was chairman of the English Department for three years and has acted as chairman of several significant college-wid- e faculty committees. When the School of Humanities at WSC was organized in 1974, Dr. Mikkelsen becsme its first dean. Dr. Dayton said he has served with distinction in his role as leader of the newly formed school. He has, Dr. Dayton said, demonstrated sound judgment, a sincere conduct for the college community, and a dedication to academic affairs during his tenure as dean. To effect an orderly transition of responsibilities the selection of Dr. Mikkelsens replacement will begin as soon as possible.
