He moved Picture not available Bonnevile Kevin Christensen Place-kick- 4 Quarterback Ted Richard er into the varsity starting lineup at halftime of Roys first game, in 1975 and never gave up his position. He is being carefully watched by all of the Utah colleges, and several from out of state. Fernandes is not a big man. He is barely 59 tall, and weighs 175 pounds, but pound for pound he is toughest in the league. He is a dedicated leader, and popular with his teammates. He has the ability to get his teams up for that big play, and has the tools to run it for them. Fred is best as a wide receiver, but did an outstanding job for Coach Jacklin this year as a running back. He has the speed to get around the comer, and the agility to squirt through the line. His opponents may taunt him, but they respect him, and seek him out after the game to shake his hand. Fred Fernandes did not get a unaminous vote as M.V.P. in Region One but his name was mentioned as a possibility by every coach. The Most Valuable Player of Region One goes to Fred Fernandes, the running sensation from Roy High School, Fernandes Is blessed with quickness and deceptiveness that has baffled defenders all year long. Fred was a scoring threat every time he got his hands on the ball. He scored five touchdowns and was given Player of the Week for his game at Skyview. He caught a 55 yard pass for one touchdown against Layton and returned a punt 52 yards for another. Every team geared its defense to Stop Freddy and some did it, but not many. In the play-of- f game at a kickreturned Fernandes Skyline, off 97 yards for a touchdown. Fernandes also played on the Royal defensive unit. As a free safety, he prevented several sure touchdowns by the opposition, and intercepted his share of passes. pm?? feu A Roger Vincent Roy Clearfield Tight End Split-En-d V A V 1 r-- 4 , t :r i, 'rt i ft!: Hill Si it elser Viewmont 1 Bountiful JimDenning Guard s, Tackle 3 M ' I A If M g, Taz Murray 1 DougFosmark Roy Center Bountiful Shawn Miller i Guard if T? ftv? 5 Ar 'fl j" fidyf t ri 1 7 : vfi J o Brandon Flint Lenny Nelson f m ww Scott Stewart Bountiful v Vf T" fe w xr ar f tki 4 n Tackle 7 p7 t Weber Bruce Thorpe Chuck Ehin Leyton Bonneville Weber Leyton Tackle Guard Guard Tackle 4, Defensive End picture not available 12 mm wmm 4 Kevin Moss Layton tk Defensive End Craig Cory Kurt Stauffer Viewmont Weber Roy Bonneville Linebacker Linebacker Linebacker Linebacker ik.
