Sunset hammered Team No. l of 14-- 6 in the opening game of the summer Babe Ruth League last week at Roy. The Sunsetters jumped on Troy Burns for three runs in the first inning, and two in the second, but the Royals struck back in their half of the second frame to score five big runs and tie the score. Sunset exploded in the third inning for eight more runs on three singles, a double, a triple and a home run by Mike Arrant, Roy aided the Sunset cause with three errors in the inning. Sunset scored again in inning number four and Roys Fernandes stole around the bases in the fifth inning for one more Royal point. Under the opener 1 7-- 1 . T ogdw.v .i'KOY NO. ' 101-15- The Northern Region fishing opener was good with some interesting surprises. Fishing success went as predicted. The surprises occurred in the area of fishing pressure, according to the State Division of Wildlife Resources. East Canyon took a cut in the number of fishermen that normally flock to this popular water. At Pineview, pressure was down at least s from normal. A reduction in anglers was expected but not to the degree that it occurred. Most reservoirs produced at least fair fishing. East Canyon was good from the bank and fair from boats. Echo was fair but only a handful of fishermen showed. Rockport was a little disappointing with slow to fair fishing. Fish were, however, larger than those caught on the other Weber River Impoundments. Porcupine and Hyrum received heavy pressure. Porcupine was just fair. Hyrum was good from boats with best results by trolling in deep water. Hyrum fish were healthy averaging s of a pound. Most streams were not fistiable including most of Blacksmith Fork which usually is clear. The Weber was poor with high, murky water. Logan River proved less muddy and more fishable. Fishing was good there. The high country is still snowbound, home lakes up to 9,000 feet in elevation are open to vehicle traffic but unstocked due to muddy shore conditions. Bridger, Marsh, and Hoop lakes will have some fish surviving lrom last year. The high Uintahs should open up by late June, r CD :dnFX 'POTXj?
