Wahlen of Hy- Plans are completed for a project to erect a memorial to the dead of World War I and World War II to be located in the southeast corner of the Hyrum ceme- rum will be hoonred by her family at an open house reception complimentary to her 80th birthday Sunday, October 19, from 2 until 6 p. m. at her home in Hy- . rum. Mrs. Wahlen was, born in Glen-elch- y, tery. The project will be sponsoerd and carried out by the .South Cache Post 47, American Legion,-witthe cooperation of the Hyrum City Council. The cost will run between $2,000 and $3,000. Every; home in Hyrum will be visited for ' a donation. The monument will be made of stone with a center shaft and two wings. When three years of age she came with the other members of the fa)mily to Salt Lake City where they resided for some time and later moved to Logan. On February 11, 1886 she mas ried J. A. Wahlen in the Logan temple. He was a printer by trade. After living In many parts of Utah and Idaho the family located in Hyrum in 1910 .where Mr. Wahlen owned and operated the : South Cache Courier until his death In 1931. Mrs. Wahlen, as well as her entire family have been gifted with splendid musical talent which they have used freely in their respective communities. She has been a faithful church worker having served in all the church auxiliaries in-- ; many capacities. She., was also presldent of the Sego Lily Camp of fheBaugh ters of Utah- Pioneers for ' two years. She is the mother of the following children: Mrs. Nettie Hail, Salt Lake City; J. Le Roy Wahlen. Ogden;. Jack Wahlen, Los Angeles; Mrs. Manila Reese, Tooele; Mrs. La r Reta Bickmore, Great Falls, Montana; W. The dates were set for Thursday and Friday nights, October 23 and 24.- The dates have now been moved forward to Wednesday and Thursday nights, October 22 And 23. This change became necessary because of the temple excursion coming on Friday night.
