Show r --WEEKLY REFLEX DAViS NEWS TT JCLTfiAL, AUGUST 17. 1978 Legion Squad Ends Season By DAVE WIGHAM SALT LAKE CITY Vikes Win Division Drop 2 In Tourney By DAVE W IGHAM SALT LAKE CITY - View-mo- out their American Legion year with a couple of heartbreaking losses in the annual state tournament closed THE VIKINGS again came into the tournament as the best team from the northern division having won that race with a 15-- record but again luck was not on their side Entering the game one of the strongest parts of the Vikings was their pitching with Kelly Downs, Mark Garn, Kevin Walker, Todd Hatch and Richard Downs having good years One would never have guessed that they would have given up 16 runs in their first game, maybe in the tournament but certainly not m a single contest AS LUCK would have it the Viewmont bunch drew the noon game against Highland on opening day The only thing hotter than the 100 degree temperature was the Highland bats Before the seven innings came to a close the Rams had pounded out 14 hits and scored the 16 runs Along the way the Vikings helped out the Ram cause with eight errors which again is unlike them Highland started out fast scoring 12 runs in the first three innings while limiting - Bou- American Legion baseball team could very ntiful easily be awarded the Hard Luck award for their past season THINGS WERE looking Viewmont to four.
