JUNE 29. 1978 mMics Moratorium Lifted SUNSET A five-mont- h moratorium on construction of multi-undwellings in Syracuse has been lifted by it the city council. THE COUNCIL adopted a new ordinance which will enable the city to maintain a stricter control over the building of such structures. City officials said they have studied the building problems in the city during recent months and feel the new ordinance will be beneficial to the city and its residents. The new ordinance which went into effect immediately instead of waiting the usual y waiting period for a new law to become effective will require that a builder obtain a conditional use permit to construct apartments, condominiums or other dwellings, including mul-ti-u- duplexes, it was explained. MAYOR NORMAN Sant said all present city ordinances governing construction of multiple dwellings will be subject to conditions m the new law. He added that the new ordinance was adopted without y the usual waiting period to avoid having to extend the building moratorium for another month. THE NEW ordinance now specifies that there are no 'longer any building zones in the city specifically designated for multiple dwellings.
