V?$ , View Pleasant The cars will turn east on 3925 N., and south on 800 W. to Elberta Dr. They will proceed east on Elberta Dr. to 175 W., west on Weber High Dr., and north on 500 W. The parade will continue through will celebrate the nations dependence from England July 3rd and 4th with in- jv,. , a dancing, melodrama, and a visit from V'J parades, Congressman Gunn McKay. The activities will begin with a car parade at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. 'l ; Twelve The North Ogden Cherry Days Scholarship Pageant fwill be held at the high school :auditorium at 7:50 p.m. r A flag ceremony will open the pageant, followed bv the 'judging on talent and evening gowns. j The bathing suit judging jand personal interviews with each girl will take place earlier in the day at the home of Mrs. Karen Larsen after a special luncheon there. Special guests, at the luncheon will include North Eldon iOgden Mayor McColley and wife Beverly, Miss Utah Karen Brinley, Master of Ceremonies Roger Arnold, and reigning Miss Cherry Days Sharon Kendall. Judges for the contest are Ms. Brinley, Pat Poce, Troy Thornton, Hazel Robertson, and Nancy Flamm. Jody Taylor, Janna Lee Skinner, and Joi Lin Hayes are the final three contestants to be profiled in the Beacon prior to the contest. Ms. Taylor, 16, is the daughter of Robert and Lynda Taylor, 3030 W. 1900 N. A senior at Weber High School this coming school year, Ms. Taylor has won third place in the State Spelling bee, first place in the District Spelling Bee, and a superior rating at the 8th and 9th grade Solo and Ensemble Festival. She was a cheerleader and a member of the Melodettes and Choralaires. Ms. Taylor enjoys tennis, riding, testant in the state DECA competition. Her hobbies are motorcycle and traveling, camping. She has visited 40 states in the United States. Her ambition is to be a child psychologist because she loves little children and wants to help them with their problems. Ms. Skinner, 17, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Palmer, 4168 N. 500 Pleasant View. A 1980 graduate of Weber High W., School, Ms. Skinner plans to major in broadcasting and minor in journalism in college. She was the student director and house manager of Weber Highs Arsenic and Old Lace production, winner of Excellent and Superior ratings at the Drama Meet, a finalist in the Weber Invitational, historian of the Debate Club, and a con- Region and cutting dramatic humorous material for drama students, cooking, and reading. It will then proceed west on Pleasant View Dr., north on 1100 W., east on 3800 North, and north on 900 W. and Heights Mountain Estates, back to 500 W., and into the Weber Majestic High School driving range, where it will disband. A kiddie parade will march around the high school track at 6:30 p.m. Youngsters with bicycles, tricycles, big wheels, or are welcome to join ( wagons the parade. No horses are allowed. At 6:45 p.m., three hang gliders will take off from Ben Lomond peak under the direction of Ralph Butler for the pleasure of viewers at the celebration. The Soul Strutters from Dance Dixie Coggins Shoppe will perform from 6:45 to 7 p.m. at the Weber High football field. There will be free games, races, and prizes for children and teenagers at the football field from 7 to 7:30 p.m. The Pleasant View Committee Beautification will sell popcorn, drinks, and other goodies. A community meodrama entitled Dead Wood Dick will be presented in the high school auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Admission will be $2 for adults, $1, for children. On July 4 the Pleasant View Jr. Posse will hold a flag ceremony at Shady Lane Park, 600 W. at 7 a.m. A before the program and during the breakfast.
