Show I t I poor copy s MatfSei? ff tdh airs Steenblik Steenblik Up until now, I thought major remodeling of the kitchen meant cleaning out the refrigerator. But this is a whole new ball game. Not too long ago (in fact, it was just about three nervous breakdowns ago), I had an ordinary old kitchen. It was ugly, and it was falling apart in places, but I knew where the food was, so I was happy. However, the falling apart in places got a little carried away, and when one of the cabinet doors dropped off its hinges and nearly beaned Katie, well, that did it. The kitchen had thrown me a nasty curve, so I decided to bench it.- - Benching a kitchen is not easy. They die hard. If I could send the kitchen, by just wishing, to the great countertop cloud in the sky, believe me, I would. But benching the kitchen means coming to blows. Wishing just dont do the trick! And kitchens hang in there tight. They just dont pull out easy. They have to be disemboweled. One grisly piece at a time. Inch by inch, step by step, mile by mile with lots of blood, sweat, and swearing in between. A real fun time. But, I thought, it would be worth it in the end. As for whose end it would be heaven only knew. I was ready to remodel. After years of with those struggling cabinets that hung funny, drawers that stuck, a gross old countertop that had been forever branded with somebodys Mister Coffee, and with a ratty rug that wined and dined weekly on Carpet Fresh, I was more than ready. We would remodel, cost. At any cost?? minute!, cried my at any Wait a check- book! Hold on there!, hollered the savings! Can you handle it??, they asked in unison! ! One look at my Katie said it all. Yes! ! One quick counting of my lucky stars said it again! Yess!! At any cost a new kitchen!! How was I to know it would cost me my sanity?? New kitchens take time. Time is something I have lots of these days since we eat every other meal at McDonalds. I mean, how does a person cook when a paint can is balanced on the burners of the stove?? Or when saw dust has filled the sugar bowl. Snd remodeled the butter dish in dotted swiss?? about the protect it, the fridge (my best friend), was covered with a tight, fitted bedsheet. Ill take the cruddy cabinets the dirty old carpet the Mister Coffee countertop! Please! Just let me get to the food! Ill never complain again!
