Give the Weber High basketball team 10 or 11 points extra and youd probably find them right in there fighting for the Region One championship. The Warriors have lost at least 5 games by nor more than 10 points, cant get much closer than that. Weber has to receive credit where credit is due. Ballif, former Ogden and Weber High coaching great, was recently awarded a Distinguished High School Coach award by the Utah chapter of the Old Time Athletes Association. Mr. Ballif, a resident of North Ogden most of his life, now resides at 581 E. 2600 N. He was awarded the special certificate in a meeting held at the Prudential Building in Salt Lake City last week. Ballif was legend among area coaches during his 38 years of is still regarded today as and coaching one of the finest coaches in Utahs high school sports history. His coaching days stretched from 1931 to 1969 when he retired. He spent eight years at Weber High, four years at North Ogden Junior, and the majority of the years as a coach with Ogden High School, 26 as a total.
