The royalty will reign over all the Cherry Days activities and the wanner will enter next years Miss Utah Pageant Pageant director is Jan Chandler and Dale Wride is Cherry Days general chairman Kari Burnham is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Francis N Burnahin, 681 E 2700 N She is the president of locomotion performing groups at Weber State College where she is enrolled in the honors program She also placed first with a mono act in a regional contest Holli Bunnell is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Stephen Bunnell, 3111 N 100 E and a graduate of W'eber High School She has been a class officer, varsity cheerleader, first attendant to ! 1 i t s i Kari Burnham Sandy Rode Cheryl Taggart t the Homecoming Queen, Key Club sweetheart and Miss Sophomore She has also been active in dramatic and musical circles competing in regional and state festivals She has been seminary vice president and a member of the National Honor Society, the Future Business Leaders of America Club, the German Club and has sung with the A Cappella Choir She plans to enter the office administration program at Utah State University this fall Diana Jensen is the daughter of Mr and Mrs EmonA Jensen, 1303 E 2500 N and a graduate of Weber High School She has been seminary officer, a Symphony Deb, and a member of the A Cappella Choir and the Chamber Choir She was the Weber High School Sterling Music Scholar nominee and has been nominated for membership m the Society of Distinguished American High School students Suzanne Brown is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Fred C Brown, 1097 E. 2600 N She is a graduate of Weber High School and Weber High Seminary and plans to attend Weber State College Her achievements include membership the in Warnorettes, the National Honor Society and the French Club and the Future Business Leaders of America. ' Washington Blvd. to be widened North Ogden City Councilman Information received this past week brings good news for the citizens of North Ogden and Pleasant View. You have probably noted state surveying crews working on North Washington Boulevard This project is now in the design phase and as soon as the state gives final approval of funds, construction will begin. Doug LcFevre, district engineer for the State Department of Transportation informs us that plans are underway to widen North Washington Boulevard from North Street to 1700 North by July of 1979 This will provide four lanes of traffic, a wide median for left turn lanes plus curb and gutter, parking and possible sidewalks It will resemble the present design between North Street and Second Street as well as the new road completed on 12th street between As federal funds become available. North and Wall F Ogden w '7 Washington will be completed the rest of the way north. This should be done in the summer of 1980 or at the latest, the summer of 1981. The interchange road giving North Ogden and Pleasant View quick access to the Industrial Center and freeway is now in planning. Final approval is expected soon on an environmental assement of this proposed highway. Design approval on location and other features of the project will be worked out by the state Pleasant ) Wendy Bronson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Bronson, 1838 N 450 E She is a graduate of Weber High School and wants to attend the Weber State Dental Hygiene program. As soon as this is completed the state will begin purchase of the right of way. The highway will then be assigned a priority for funding and construction. This project is a few years down the line, but when completed. will provide access on 2GOO North to the west and over to the freeway. Meetings have recently been held between officials of the Ogden Area of Transportation and city officials of Harnsville, North Ogden and Pleasant View. The purpose of the meetings has been to consider long range planning for arterial streets Of special interest is the common agreement reached on the future extension of Wall Avenue from its present ending onto U S 89 all the way north into North Ogden as far north as it can be taken. This w ill give another major access in and out of North Ogden and Pleasant View. The location of Monroe Boulevard as it comes through North Ogden has been designated Skyline Drive is also being planned and designated As these roads are eventually completed it will give North Ogden four main routes of access in and out of the city going north and sourth. Including these two, plus Washington and Wall. HEATHER PREECE PRACTICES the Cherry Balanced New baby contest budget There will be something new this year all the Baby Contest winners will ride in the Cherry Days parade A balanced budget is the result of long hours of planning and hard work on the part of North Ogden officials. The 1978 79 budget was adopted at the North Ogden City Council meeting Tuesday night The total budget for the coming year is 51,598.153 There are 11 funds in the budget and the council approved the monies allocated to each fund The new budget will not increase taxes or mill levys. The North Country Estates was also approved by the Council with one of their parents They will ride in the Cherry Days train in the July 4 parade. The Baby Contest, under the direction of Sheryl Ward, will start the festivities on July 1. Registration will begin at 9 30 a m, at North Ogden Junior High School. The contest will start at 10 oo a m. The contest is open to everyone 18 months of age and younger, whether live in North Ogden or not There is a 75 cents entry fee Door prizes will be given in addition Lisa Ann Kow aluk is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Kow aluk of 1012 E. 2750 W. She attended Weber State College for two years in the nursing training program. She has lived in North Ogden for four years. She likes gymnastics, drawing, guitar and outdoor sports.
