J Kevin Sorensen will be competing in the pole vault; Kevin Fielding in the 880; Dave Morse in the 100 yd. dash; Blair Butler and Dave DeFries in the mile and 2 mile. Scott Martini will run in both hurdle events and Mark Montgomery will try to go as high as he can in the high jump. Weber will also send their medley relay team with Barry Leete, Kevin Taylor, Curt Beutler and John Hale representing the team. Weber will have five Seniors, four Juniors and 2 sophomores representing them at the state classic. The events should offer plenty of excitement to the people down competition. The track and field championship turned out to be a real fight going into the very last event. With four teams in contention for the top spot, it was the very surprising Layton squad that pulled off the major upset. Bonneville, Roy, Clearfield and Layton each had a shot at the title going into the final event, the mile The final team scores at the conclusion of the meet were as follows: 1. Layton - 87; 2. Bonneville - 86; 3. Roy - 83; 4. Clearfield - 82; 5. Weber - 62; 6. Sky View - 61 ; 7. Viewmont - 36; 8 Bountiful - 30. Weber will be relay. Fielding qualified to move on to the state competition at BYU this weekend with his first place finish in the region competition. I |
