Page 4 Western Congressmen Have Filed Metal Duty Protest Fifteen congressmen from the western lead and zinc producing states in a joint letter to Secretary of State have protested against any reduction in the tariff on lead and zinc in the reciprocal trade agreements being negotiated with Great Britain and Canada. Representatives Abe Murdock, Utah; Scrugham, Nevada, and Disney of Oklahoma, personally presented the joint protest to Secretary Hull. The protest reads: The present tariffs on lead and zinc are not high. They represent only a sufficient protection to permit the development and production of ores from the mines of this country.
