The Trade Union Democratic League of Utah is constantly enrolling new members, and from the interest that is being manifested by those who believe in a square deal we look for gratifying results in the election this fall, said Mr. Dittman. COMMITTEE PLEDGES AND TO TIIE A. F. OF L. ORGANIZING CAMPAIGN The Utah Labor New criticized the address of Senator Key Pitt man in the U. S. senate February 10, advocating, in effect, building up our naval and air forces to a point where we can cross the Pacific and fight Japan for the sake of our investments in China. We believe this address was uncalled for and untimely. The editor of the Labor News immediately wrote letters to Utah senators and representatives in congress and to lresident Roosevelt, expressing our disapproval of the Pittman speech, and asking for their opinion regarding the unfortunate matter. In the issue of Labor News of February 21, we carried an editorial under caption, War Must Never Come! This expressed our sentiments. Was Shocked We have received replies to our letter from the following: Representative J. W. Robinson February 18, writes: (Continued from page 1) bus, Ohio. Donald was unconscious 250 hours. C. (AFLNS) In order to end delays in construction projects, Works Progress Administrator Harry L. Hopkins issued an order enabling WPA contractors to requisition union labor direct from recognized labor organizations instead of going first to the United States employment service. The order covers both skilled and unskilled workers. Projects included in the rule are those financed wholly or in part from funds allotted to the Federal Emergency Administration of Iublic Works from funds appropriated by the Emergency Relief Appropriation Act of 1935. Under the new plan the repre--sentati- ve of the union will select union members for work on the project, giving preference, first, to those members of the union who are on the local public relief rolls. When there are no union members on relief rolls, the union representative is authorized to select any other members of the organization. Wont Be So Eager MINERS UNION U. S. Senator Bennett C.
