No trees will be sprayed within 50 feet of streams or impoundments. The treatment w ill be applied in late September to avoid conflicts with recreation users. The treatment lasts 2 years. Subsequent treatments will be necessary until the spruce beetle epidemic no longer poses a threat to the trees in these sites. The deciding official, the District Ranger, is considering the use of a Categorical Exclusion (CE) to complete the analysis on this proposed project, pursuant to the Forest Service Handbook 1901.15. Chapter 30. Section 31.1b. category (5) Repair and maintenance of recreation sites and facilities.
