| Show H H EVANS EVA NS ARRESTED HI HE IS 18 BROUGHT BEFORE commissioner MCKAY about 6 this abia morning deputies greenman pratt BUBB franks thompson and others made a raid mid ou on the sixth ward H evans was arrested on a charge of unlawful cohabitation made by deputy franks and alleging all egine that he had bad lived with Ettie Evans and ads ada evans as his wives irom from march 1884 to february ast 1st 1887 alter after the warrant had bad been served on mr amias and his wife and litt little e daughter i subpoenaed the deputies deludes inaugurated a search fox for the alleged plurad wife whom they insisted was in the immediate neighborhood they drew irom from their pockets a sufficient number of candles to suit their purpose and by the light thus afforded examined every apartment and corner in the house as well as all the out buildings but to no purpose A number of el witnesses were then subpoenaed irom from the neighborhood and the accused was taken before commissioner Commissio mckay at 10 a am in the commissioner fixed the the preliminary examination for this afternoon and mr evans was released on 1600 bail pending A G giauque and OA 0 A woolley being sureties this afternoon mr evans stated that he desired to waive examination mr dickson replied tuat if he would admit the facts charged he would permit it otherwise he would not mr moyle said the defendant would admit having two wives henrietta and ida rushan evans and that he had bad lived with them during the past three years I 1 I 1 the defendant def enfant was held in 1500 ball bail to await the action ot of the grand jury |
