For the last several years, Carbon County officials and residents have challenged traveling conditions on U.S. G. In fact, the stretch of highway passing through Carbon County has been classified as one of the most potentially dangerous roads in the state. Utah lawmakers have pledged to address concerns related to the section of highway in Price and Spanish Fork canyons as state funding becomes available for the project. No action was taken on either of the proposed rate increases. Board members offered to meet with the county residents the following day to receive input and consider the concerns of the customers in unincorporated areas. The board then decided to vote on the proposed changes duringthe PRWID's next scheduled meetingon Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. There were several questions raised by citizens at the Tuesday meeting. One citizen asked why district residents pay more than city residents. The residents were told they are currently paying less than the cities who had to charge more for additional sen ice that was built into the PRWID charge. it was pointed out that cities dont know what it is going to cost the municipalities to maintain, repair and replace lines. Price officials hope the city can do it for the difference between the S 18 billed and the $13 paid to PRWID. All municipalities are looking at the problem. One citizen asked if customers who tap directly into the sewer trunk line hax e a lower rate because they really dont use the local collection system. The person was told the board looked at how far to segregate customers. For example, should each house pay only its fair share? In other words, should customers living next to the sewer plant be charged less than people further up the line? There were questions about the property tax assessment for all county residents. The money goes to pay for general obligation bonds for the water distribution system. Residents in the unincorporated area of the county are hooked to the PRWID system. People in Wellington purchase water from PRWID and therefore use the system. Price city has an interlocal agreement to share xvatcr with PRWID. During the summer they receive water and duringthe winter they return water. Although Helper has not used PRWID for several jears, city residents too have the availability of the water. The tax brings in S384.000 .annually, compared to an overall budget of $3.9 million for PRWID. It xvas pointed out that the district cut $400,000 out of last years budget compared to the districts 1908 budget. X August 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11 - 1S39 7:30 pjn. August 7 - 2J0.pjjn, Kim Kent c.
