Utah Kiwanis Club slates circus performances for May 25 The Price Kiwanis Club will sponsor the Carson & Barnes Circus Five-rin- g performances are planned at 4.30 and 7:30 p.m. at the Carbon County Fairgrounds. Advance admission tickets to attend the circus performances may be purchased at various business establishments in the local area. Last year, Isa, a 30 year-ol- d member of the Carson & Barnes family of performing Asian elephants, gave birth to Jennie, one of a few baby elephants to be born in captivity. While the arrival of any new baby is a miraculous event, circus representatives point out that Jennies arrival last September is special as there are only about 40,000 of the endangered Asian elephants remaining in the world. In an attempt to help preserve the magnificent animals, Carson & Barnes has established a breeding farm near Hugo, the circus winter quarters in Oklahoma. McKendrick, the son of Sheldon and Gina McKendrick of Carbonville, has graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor of science degree in mass communication with emphasis in electronic media and telecommunications. Alumni finished the show with a reminiscent section showing off antique ball gowns that came from the closets of Earlene Gibson, Wilma Hanson and Lucille Pressett. The concluding gown was a blue southern belle hoop dress that was originally worn by Hanson as part of the Days of '47 Carbon County royalty.
