Show 2A Sun Advocate, Price, Utah Tuesday, May 11, 1993 Merchants honor mothers Five lucky mothers in Carbon and Emery counties were honored by their children and the Price Downtown Association this past Mothers Day. A grandmother who has been raising her deceased daughters children was named Queen For A Day after her granddaughter filled in an application for the contest, saying her grandmother deserved to be queen. Nikki Brady, age 14, nominated her grandmother, Marilyn Brady, who received a dozen roses, a gift from Oliveto Furniture & Appliance and gift certificates from several downtown merchants. Nikki wrote: I feel that my grandma should be queen for the day because eight years ago, my mom died in a car accident by a drunk. Even though she cant replace my mom, she means the world to me and she deserves it. She took us in her home and raised us when she already had her five kids raised. She really does deserve to be queen for a day!" Four mothers were named as runners-u- p and received a rose and a $20 gift certificate. They were Gail Wilde, nominated by her daughter, Grace; Susan Jensen, nominated by her daughter, Trinity Weber; Vickie Jensen, nominated by her daughter, Brook; and Kim Allred, nominated by her daughter, Ashlee. The applications, which included the childs reasons for nominating the mother, were judged by age categories. Those judged best were pooled, and the winner drawn randomly. d long-stemme- CASTLELAND REALTY rrrmn IS MOVING TO A NEW LOCATION urnitureTaftoance West Main Price 637-014- 0 Utahns asked to share the harvest gardeners are being Grow A Row for the this spring in sup- Home asked to Hungry" port of Septembers an annual project of Utahns Against HunShare-the-Harve- ger, a statewide Perm, Haircut $ f and Style on Long Hair and vU HAIR HUT 8 food and advocacy now in its 12th year, solicits fruit and vegetables from local gardeners and commercial growers.
