A councilman can be from any walk of life as long as he is a citizen of the community. Brown admits that there will be some issues Casto can't vote on, and he will no longer be over his department, budget, and things like that but cant see why Jim cant serve and be an employee of the city. Casto was unavailable for comment but will begifi his new job on August 12, 2004. Class of 54 gathered for 50 year Reunion The weekend of July 3rd, 4,h & spent in Salina with 30 5,h. was classmates renewing old friendships. Friday & Saturday was spent visiting one classmate Alvie Lau who came from Washington State and was hospitalized and unable to attend the festivities. Saturday morning the group gathered at Robinson's shop to build a float, then off to the Black hawk Arena w here tables were set up & decorated, along with a memotabilia table, and silent auction table. Social hour staited out at 5:00 p.m., photos were taken at 6:00, and dinner at 7.00. They were honoicd to have as their guests two of their former teachers Mr. & Mis. Sammy Newton, & Mr. & Mis. Dent Sorenson. On Sunday, a no host brunch was held, visiting and eating was the order of the day. At 2:30 p.m. they all met at Robinson's An tique truck show. They were Lions float with one of their thrilled to see this wondeiful former classmates, and friend Ronald Crane, used his tractoi to ad- dition to Salina. They then gathered at the High School to enjoy the Patiiotic Program. Monday morning they were back at Robinsons shop to put the finishing touches on the float. At 4.00 p.m. they assembled at the parade route. They were very happy to see another former teacher, Hugh Bird, as Grand Marshall. Their tloat followed the pull the float. The group also hon- ored the seven classmates that have passed on w ith pictures and a remembrance attached lovingly to the float. Several members of the Class of 54 road on the agon, doing w hat everyone else docs, throw' candy. After the paw rade they went to the rodeo. A great big thank you to Redmond Salt who donated several gift boxes, Burns Saddle Company donated several Gail & JoeAnn Heath a and cookbook, Marilyn quilt Chiistensen Schaugaard a painting, Gay Slocks a Fanny Pack bags of Candy & Bubble gum to throw at the parade, the proceeds from the silent auction were donated to the Salina Museum. The committee consisting of Leon Mason, JoeAnn Heath, Donna Burns, DcLoy Schaugaard and Gay Stocks want to thank Russell & C.G Heaths The Parts House for the wonderful table favors for each classmate, Kim & Norma Robinson for the use of their shop and for the tour, the family of Ronald Crane for the tractor and Brent for driving, and last but not least the Lions Club for the great parade.
