Families today face economic and emotional strains that wear away a familys happiness, yet all families have areas of strength as well as areas that need to be strengthened. While reading the following areas of family strengths decide where your family is strong. Then identify and area where your family could be stronger. He is married to the former DeLoris Peters and they are the parents of five children. Mayfield Community Care Center News The Care Center residents enjoyed a Day party. Homemade green ice cream and gi cen frosted sugar tookies baked and decorated by the Residents cooking group were served Jo all in attendance. Ray Smith is our new volunteer. He yvill perform every second Thursday St. Patricks Relief Society was presented this month by our regular teachers Mary Lois Madsen and Mary Louise Sorensen. Our March Birthday Party was held March 18 honoring Ano Barton and Chris Rossi. Friday, March 9 was our big monthly program. The Snow College Polynesian Club, under the direction of Claudia Olsen presented an hour of dancing and singing. What a program! -- Afternoon at 4 p.m. The Care Center residents were invited to the fourth grade class program List week and the fifth grade class program this week. Some of our residents attended both programs. They enjoyed i ring acknowledgment to family members when they lend a helping hand or buoy us emotionally. Communication Communication can be as complex rt as the deep talk or as is as when. who where simple knowing Several years ago, I found that my youngest child was often confused when at the last minute, he was ordered to dress or prepare for whatever was going on each day. I knew my schedule, I knew the schedules of my older childrens activities, but the youngest was usually left in the dark. I made a personal calendar for him. I wrote daily what he could expect about the day. Simple things like this or a centrally located family calendar can alleviate family members feeling left out. Community and Family Ties In our mobile society, we often leave the area where we grew up. Many children do not live within walking distance of grandmas house and lose the closeness with grandparents, aunts, and uncles as in the good old days. Keeping a family news packet where participation in sports and community events, or even the doctors instructions for the one w ho has tonsillitis can be sent off weekly to extended family members. This gives the long distance family members a chance to heart-to-hea- particular family. These experiences provide memories of family togetherness. Researchers have found that the body reacts about the same to something that is very vividly imagined as it brag, complain, and share family events. does to something that actually hap In cases where relatives are no longer change and incomes change. Those who meet these challenges best are those who have the most information and have a continued sense of being cared for. Depending on ages, children need as much understanding as one can have at that age. Strong families love, in spite of circumstances, illnesses, tragedies, or age. Love must be regarded as The Never-Endin- g Story in every living, every community has a person who can be an adopted" grandparent or relative. Working Together Having children help with the work can translate into, Its less hassle to do it myself, or I want it done right. Job Chart is used by some The age-ol- d families, but children are more apt to carry out their responsibilities if they have some choice about what they are.
