But these people need, regardless of ability to pay, 1 and many others were recipients last year of charitable health services from Intermountain Health Care (IHC). In 1996, IHC hospitals in the Intermountain West treated 43,793 patients on charitable basis. The value of the care exceeded $26.2 million, compared to $23.2 million in 1995, repreincrease of 12 senting a one-year said William Nelson, IHC executive vice president and chief operator officer. Most people have insurance or funding to pay for the care they receive. But if someone needs help we step in and provide care on a charitable basis. Requests for charitable services are basis to reviewed on a ensure that those individuals who need financial relief get the care they need. Charitable services are granted based on the financial status of the patient or family requesting care. Anyone needing information about charitable services can contact the business office of an IHC hospital. Over the past six years, IHC hospitals have provided $134 million in charitable care in about272,000 cases. In recent years, the number of people seeking charity care at IHC has stabilized. This is attributable in part to the clindevelopment of new ics located in communities along the Wasatch Front. By seeking care at these clinics early on, many people are able to be treated for medical concerns before they become serious enough to require an emergency room case-by-ca- low-inco- visit or hospitalization. IHC financially supports community clinics in Logan, Ogden, Salt Lake City, Taylorsville, and Provo that provide care based solely on an individuals ability to pay. IHC has donated more than $1 million every year since 1990 in support of these facilities, which treat more than 76,000 patients each year. In addition, IHC recently donated $20 million to form a community foundation to support these clinics. IHC is a charitable, community-ownenonprofit health care organization based in Salt Lake City that serves the health needs of Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming residents. The IHC system includes health insurance plans, 23 hospitals , 75 clinics, and affiliated d, physicians. days June Robinson-Peewe- e Warren and Maurine Ottley Match made at reunion (Continued from Page 1) Warren and Maurine have also been very active in community service including manybeautification projects.
