However, while the state average salaries for administrators and supervisors fell, many districts provided their administrators with huge wage increases. In fact, administrators in ten districts-Webe- r, Murray, Sevier, Wasatch, North Sanpete, Morgan, Kane, South Summit, North Summit, indouble-dig- it and d Teachan of creases, average ers in those districts, by way of comparison, received an average increase of only Wayne-receive- 1 9.3. 6.4. Notwithstanding this years decrease in average salaries for administrators and supervisors, the salary gap between teachers and administrators continues to grow. In 1990-9the difference between the average teacher salary and average administrator salary was $13,429. By 1994-9the gap had increased to $15,060. Under current compensation practices, quality teachers are encouraged to leave the classroom for administrative positions in search of better pay, commented Stephenson. We must our current compensation practices to determine how excellent educators can be adequately compensated so that they remain in the classroom, he said. Teachers comprised only 53.5 of total school district employees in the 1994-9- 5 school year, down for the fifth straight year. Districts showing the highest percentage of teachers were Alpine at 65.9, up from 64.4 last year, Beaver at and Logan at 60.1 . Piute and Tintic had the lowest percentage of teachers at 36.7 and 46.5, regular meetings will be held once a month, usually on the second Thursday, and begin at 3:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. Items to be placed on regular board meeting agendas need to be delivered to the Superintendent or Superintendents Secretary at least one week prior to the board meeting date.
