Show Students gain high honors Whos Who Susan Williams has received the honor of appearing in Who's Who Among American High School Students for the second time. She received this award the first time during 1993 and again, in 1994. She was nominated by EvaLynn Holt for her academic achievements. p i ' She is a sophomore at North Aurora 1st Ward's Troop 648 presented four Eagle Scout Awards on Sunday, May 22, 1 994. One highlight of the program was the live eagle presentation by Martin Tyner, falconer from Cedar City. He compared the superior traits of the eagle that set it apart from other birds to those the Eagle Scouts must possess in order to attain their Eagle rank. She plays the piano and clarinet and enjoys Aurora Eagles presented ' tt Queen of 47 Days Outstanding Performance Cammy Gladwell of Salina, was recently named 1994 Days of '47 Queen in Salt Lake City. First Attendant is DeEtte Peterson of Kanosh and 2nd Attendant is Melissa McKell of Ferron. The Royalty will reign over all Days of '47 Activities this year and will also be making several appearances at other functions. They will speak at LDS firesides and sacrament meetings throughout Utah during the following year. The Utah State Board of education awarded Ryan Williams a Certificate of Outstanding Performance for scoring among the top ten percent of students in the nation on the Stanford Achievement Test He had Thompson named Teacher of the Month outstanding performance in three areas: Reading, Science, and Social Chad Thompson' was recently named "Teacher of the Month" at Studies. Ryan is a Junior at North Sevier High School. North Sevier High School. Thompson was bom in Clarkston, Utah. He graduated from Skyview High School and received his Bachelors Degree from Utah State Univer- Merit Award Eric Williams has been selected to receive the National Science Merit Award. This honor is given to middle school age students for their over all academic achievements and excelling in Science. Eric was nominated by Jim Torgerson. Henrie and Florence Squires now have five generations of girls in their family. They all live in Utah. He started his teaching career at North Sevier Middle School, and is now teaching in the social studies department at North Sevier High School. Thompson coaches three saxophone, is active in his scout troop, and is very dependable. They are the children of Burke sports - track, football and basketball. They have three children and "American West" "War & Peace" and Hampton of Redmond and Mrs. live in Redmond. They love the Sevier area and it's people. They are excited to make this area their home. They are the daughters of the late MacRae Squires, and Thomas earns degree 835-980- 835-215- milestone Tamara Kae Thomas will receive her Bachelors Degree from Southern Utah University in the commencement exercises held on June 4, 994 in Cedar City. Tamara, a 1990 graduate of Gunnison Valley High, will be the first 4 year female graduate in Law Enforcement from SUU. Tamara is the daughter of Sheldon and Wilma Thomas. She would like to move back to the valley area and find employment in her field of study. The Central Utah Mental HealthSubstance Abuce Center will hold a budget hearing at their regular Authority Board Meeting on Wednesday, June 1, 1994 at 5:00 pun. The meeting will be held at the mental health office located at 255 South Main in Richfield, Utah. r Salina Senior Citizens Highlights There were 67 that took advantage of the monthly dinner. This was the last dinner until September. The program was excellent with musical numbers by Mr. and Mrs. Roger Williams. A reading by Bruce Warren was also given. We want to thank those people that give of their time and talents. The Information Center opened on Saturday, May 28, 1994. We hope everyone will watch their scheduled time so they will be there.
