Lewis r JJ Hyrum Water Supply Normal 0 V iwi Sunday School Board on Visit One of the most successful and entertaining banquets and socials of the season was the Welcome Home party held at the 2nd ward recreational hall Tuesday evening for all returned servicemen and partners of Wellsville. The City officials and Soldiers Farewell Committee were in charge with Wm. P. Leatham as master of ceremonies. The program was rendered while dinner was served. The long tables were beautifully decorated with summer flowers and covers were laid for 300. Dinner was prepared and served under the direction of the two ward Relief Societies, with Presidents Rena M. Leishman and Florence Brenchley in charge. Posting of colors and pledge of allegiance was under the direction of the local American Legion. Morris Smith directed the singing of The Star Spangled Banner. The invocation was given by Evan II. Bankhead. A vocal sol lo was next heard from Archie Maughan. The address of welcome was given by Mayor Lamont M Allan. Vocal duet by David Darley and Leroy Haslam, vocal solo by Ray Leishman, vocal duet by Edith Maughan and Marie Gunnell and male quartet by Hughe Clark, Archie Maughan, Ray Leishman and Parley Hall were all very much enjoyed. The address of the evening was given by President Henry R. Cooper of Logan Stake. Following this was a duet by Nellie Leishman and Parley Hall. The closing song was God Bless America. During the evening Wllford Andersen, secretary of the Soldiers Farewell Committee presented the veterans with a $1000 bond purchased with the money contributedby people who attend ed the dances held in honor of the boys as they left for the service. The remainder of the evening was spent at the Junior High gym where a dance was held for the general public. Committees in charge of the banquet were Charles B. Leatham William L. Ioppleton and Charles S. Cooper. Program committee was Parley Hall Charles P. Stuart and James B. Bradshaw. Decoration committee was Emerson Smith, Arthur Seamons, Wilford Anderson and James N. Larsen. The invitation committee was Lamont M. Allan and Charles N. Maughan. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Baxter of Hyrum visited in Salt Lake City on Saturday with their daughter Ruth who is employed there. At Brigham City on the return trip the Hyrum Stake Board enjoyed a chicken dinner and each returned home feeling the visit was well worth while in all resv Kindergarten under June 3 the Beginning of Mildred Gunnell, a tutelage kindergarten will be held for children four, five and six years old. The hours will be from 9 a. m. to noon, and the classes will be held for six weeks. The fee is small and is set by the State Kindergarten Associations.
